So summer begins on December 22 and winter on June 22. However, the sun shines all year round. Temperatures vary from city to city. In summer, it will be around 30 degrees on the coast and 15–20 degrees in the Andes. In winter, it’s 20 degrees on the coast and 10–15 degrees. Nights can also get very chilly in winter.
A modern, 5-passenger pickup truck, accompanied by a mechanic who specializes in motorcycles, will follow each tour for groups of 4 or more participants, ensuring comprehensive technical support. For groups of fewer than 4 riders, your guide—who is also an experienced mechanic—will handle all technical and safety aspects related to the motorcycles throughout the adventure.
Inkamoto Tours includes insurance covering bodily injury to riders and passengers. We also recommend supplemental insurance for repatriation to Europe. Please review your insurer’s terms and conditions to ensure you have coverage suitable for motorcycle travel. Safety and driving are the responsibility of each participant.
To travel to the Amazon, the yellow fever vaccine is mandatory. It is therefore required for the "North and Amazon" tour, but not required for the "Inca Trail" tour. We recommend that you consult a doctor specializing in travel medicine before your departure for any additional information.
For all our motorcycle tours in Peru, a full set of gear is essential. Although we provide helmets, it’s best to bring your own, as well as a jacket, since our selection of sizes may be limited. Since safety is our top priority, we recommend gear suited to Peru’s varied climate (wind, rain, heat), as our itineraries take us from the warm coast to the cool—or even freezing—Andes.
Traveling with a companion is possible on our organized tours. For customized camping tours, please contact Sophie, your travel advisor, by email at contact@inkamototours.com or by phone at +32 499199172 to discuss your options.
The local currency in Peru is the sol (PEN). We recommend that riders bring euros and exchange them upon arrival, with the help of our guide, who knows the best exchange rates in Lima.
